Olivia Wilde Returning for HOUSE Series Finale; Thomas Lennon Joins NEW GIRL Season Finale

It’s the end of March, which in TV Land means it’s time to start planning for the season finales that will air in May.  We wanted to pass along a pair of notable finale castings over at Fox.  First, TV Line reports that Olivia Wilde will return for the House series finale.  Wilde left the cast last season to capitalize on her budding movie career.  But since she played Thirteen for 80 episodes on the medical drama, so social courtesy dictates she returns for the very last episode.  Even amid the lulls, House has always been great with “event” episodes, so I am excited to see how the writers sign off after 8 seasons (presumably with a bang).  As a fan of Wilde and the character, I’m glad she will be involved.  Creator David Shore and longtime House writers are currently working on the swan song, which will air on May 21.

According to The Live Feed, Mary Elizabeth Ellis will reprise her role as Caroline, the manipulative ex-girlfriend of Nick (Jake Johnson) in the final three episodes of the first season.  Nick considers moving in with Caroline, which would open up a room in the apartment.  Jess (Zooey Deschanel), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), and Winston (Lamorne Morris) start looking for possible replacements—Lennon will guest star as one of the candidates.  The season finale will air on May 8, cementing the first unqualified hit sitcom Fox has premiered in quite some time.

In addition to Ellis and Lennon, Justin Long will return in the penultimate episode, reprising his role as Jess’ similarly awkward romantic interest.

Almost 40 New Images from John Cusack’s THE RAVEN

The Raven has the unenviable task of drawing audience’s attention (and dollars) away from this year’s slate of big action movies. Luckily for the Gothic murder mystery inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe, April looks to be one of the weaker months for this year’s box office. However, it will only have about one week to rake in the cash until a little movie called The Avengers comes out. Until then, we have a host of new images from The Raven featuring John Cusack, Alice Eve, Luke Evans, Bredan Gleeson and Oliver Jackson-Cohen in various shades of Gothic black. In this gritty thriller, Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack, Being John Malkovich) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans, Immortals) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin), the film also stars Alice Eve (Sex and the City 2), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster).When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields (Luke Evans) makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper—part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story.

Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe’s writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author’s help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer’s next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it’s too late.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse Reveals John Cho Is in GET A JOB, Tweets First Set Photos

CBS Films has assembled a solid young ensemble for the comedy Get a Job: Miles Teller, Anna Kendrick, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Alison Brie, Nicholas Braun, Brandon T. Jackson, and Jay Pharoah star, with Bryan Cranston on board as the elder statesman.  Director Dylan Kidd (Roger Dodger) started shooting Get a Job this week, and Mintz-Plasse has tweeted a couple revelations from the set.  First, John Cho is yet another great addition to the cast.  (I was shocked to learn that Cho will turn 40 this year, which adds a significant bump to the average age of the cast.)  Second, he posted two amusing photos from the set to Instagram.

Get A Job is a multi-generational comedy about four recent college graduates who discover that their lofty expectations and the realities of adulthood are two very different things.  Teller will play Will Davis, who finds his true calling after struggling through an entry level job.  Kendrick plays Jillian Stewart, Will’s type-A girlfriend, who lives her life according to the strictest of plans.  Cranston plays Roger Davis, Will’s father who is hunting for a job at the same time as his son.  Braun, Mintz-Plasse and Jackson will play Will’s three friends, (Charlie, Ethan and Luke, respectively), each of whom find careers with some interesting results. Brie will play Tanya, one of the group’s sharp-witted co-workers.  Pharoah will play Skeezy D, who starts his own recession-proof business.

Maggie Grace talks LOCKOUT, Working With Luc Besson and Guy Pearce, DECODING ANNIE PARKER and More at WonderCon 2012

At this weekend’s WonderCon, I was able to sit down with Maggie Grace (Lost) for an extended interview.  The reason she was attending the con was to promote Luc Besson‘s high-octane outer space thriller Lockout that also stars Guy Pearce.   In the film, Pearce plays Snow, a man wrongly accused of conspiracy to commit espionage. His one chance at a pardon comes when he is tasked with rescuing the president’s daughter from a maximum security outer space prison facility when the inmates take control.  Lockout is the feature directorial debut of James Mather and Stephen St. Leger and it opens April 13th.  For more on the film, here’s a five minute clip and our recap of the WonderCon panel.

During my interview with Grace, we talked about how she got cast, how Lockout is more of a throwback sci-fi movie, what it’s like to work for Luc Besson and with Guy Pearce, if it was more fun playing Liam Neeson‘s daughter in Taken or the President’s daughter in Lockout, and more.  In addition, Grace talks about Decoding Annie Parker (which comes out later this year) and how she’s currently filming something in Atlanta but can’t reveal what it is yet.  Hit the jump to watch.
